In the beninning of 1985, the Turkish and worl public opinions were shocked by the unbelievable news that came from Bulgaria: The Bulgarian government had started a kind of war to liquidate the large Turkish minority living in that country for centuries. the Turkish and Islamic names of one and half mllion ethnic Turks in Bulgaria were changed by force into Bulgarian and christian names.
