Thus spake Zarathustra was an attempt to provide a new meaning for human existence in a meaninggless world. Nietzsche recognized the need for a set of posivite values to direct the energy and will of Europe. In order to achieve this aim, he attacked the old system of values, both Cristian morality of the old times and bourgeois values and socialist ideas of his age.
